On January 21, 2025, the Commissioner for Human Rights in Moscow, Tatyana Potyaeva, met with Natalia Dorpeko, Executive Director of the UN Global Compact Network Russia. During the meeting, it was noted that 2025 is a jubilee year for a number of organizations: 80 years of the United Nations, 25 years of the adoption of the Global Compact and 10 years of the UN defining the goals and objectives of Sustainable development.
Tatiana Potyaeva and Natalia Dorpeko discussed a number of topical issues, including the role of the United Nations in addressing international issues, the importance of the United Nations Global Compact as the largest UN initiative in the field of corporate responsibility and sustainable development, and the Global Digital Compact, a tool for creating an inclusive global structure necessary for multilateral action to overcome digital, information and the innovation gap. They also discussed the goals and objectives of the sustainable development programs, which were defined by the President of the Russian Federation in the Decree "On the National Development Goals of the Russian Federation for the period up to 2030 and for the future up to 2036."Special attention was paid to the development of legal education and priority social groups of Muscovites were identified for the formation of thematic programs – these are students of the capital's colleges and universities, as well as participants in the Moscow Longevity program. The parties shared their experience in implementing inclusive environment projects, as well as probation and rehabilitation of former prisoners. The issue of protecting women's rights was discussed in detail, including in matters of health protection, equal opportunities in education and employment, the realization of women in the profession and creativity. Tatiana Potyaeva also said that in 2025, the Commissioner and his Staff took the topic into consideration.: "Business and human rights". We look forward to working with colleagues from business structures. Taking into account the accumulated experience of effective interaction between the Commissioner for Human Rights in Moscow and the UNGC Network Russia, plans for further cooperation in various areas of intersection of strategic interests of the development of organizations are outlined.
