The International Day of Education is held on January 24. The foundation for more peaceful, just, and sustainable societies is laid through education, a force that plays a crucial role in our lives. In the face of climate change, the erosion of democracy, persistent inequality, increasing discrimination, hatred, violence and conflict on a global scale, education is becoming a powerful tool for both solving and preventing these problems in the future. Moreover, with effective formation and implementation, education becomes a long-term investment with increasing returns.

An active commitment to peace is more relevant today than ever: Education plays a central role in this endeavor.
