From May 27 to 31, 2024, a series of events dedicated to aspects of artificial intelligence and issues of the information community are taking place at the UN venues.
The WSIS+20 Forum High-Level Event is scheduled to be held from 27 to 31 May.
The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) is a two-phase United Nations (UN) summit, first introduced by Tunisia in 1998. The summit aims to create an evolving multi-stakeholder platform to address issues raised by information and communication technologies (ICTs) at the national, regional, and international levels.
The goal is to build a people-centric, inclusive, and development-oriented Information Society.
It brings together various stakeholders, including governments, civil societies, private sectors, academia, international organizations, and technical communities, to network, partner, and share insights on achieving Sustainable Development Goals through the framework of WSIS Action Lines.

On 29th May will be held the UN's first AI Governance Day. AI Governance Day will welcome ministers and regulatory authorities fr om over 70 governments—nearly half representing developing countries—as well as representatives of industry, academia, civil society and United Nations agencies.
The first half of the AI Governance Day will be devoted to high-level discussions on the implementation of the regulatory framework in the field of artificial intelligence, in which participants will exchange information on research results and best practices.
The second part of the day is devoted to open meetings wh ere representatives of governments, industry companies, standardization bodies and UN agencies will discuss issues related to the fundamental principles of artificial intelligence management and the progress of initiatives implemented at the global level.
On May 30-31, the annual Global Summit "AI for Good" will be held, which is organized by the International Telecommunication Union jointly with the Government of Switzerland and with the participation of 40 UN partner agencies.
The Artificial Intelligence for Good Summit identifies practical applications of artificial intelligence to accelerate progress towards achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals and ensures coordination of all stakeholders from states, civil society and experts to scale artificial intelligence solutions worldwide.
In light of the proliferation of generative artificial intelligence models, which raise both concerns about their shortcomings and enthusiasm for the advantages and possibilities of using artificial intelligence, expert-oriented training workshops will be held at the summit, as well as demonstrations of advanced solutions in the field of artificial intelligence.
