As announced at the UN Global Compact Leaders Summit 2018 on September 24, Sakhalin Energy was called among the highest-engaged participants of Global Compact LEAD – the largest leadership programme on corporate sustainability under the framework of the UN Global Compact.

Lise Kingo, CEO and Executive Director of the UN Global Compact, commented that, “LEAD companies represent the highest level of engagement with the UN Global Compact. Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and creating the world we want will not happen without bold action from the responsible business community. We need companies of all sizes – like the ones recognized today – to improve their performance, no matter where they are on their sustainability journey”.

As a LEAD company, Sakhalin Energy participated in two Action Platforms – Action Platform Reporting on the SDGs and Decent Work in Global Supply Chains.

“We believe that business practices which rely on the Global Compact promote stability and fairness on the global market and contribute to the growth of prosperous communities. Our active participation in the UN Global Compact activities proves the sustainability of the business itself and opens additional opportunities for the company to promote responsible business practices, develop new standards in the area of corporate social responsibility, ensure the effectiveness of the numerous social programmes implemented in the host region, and, even more importantly, to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals, with respect to which the company had taken an official commitment”, – commented Roman Dashkov, Sakhalin Energy Chief Executive Officer.
