Irina Bakhtina

Bio

Irina is an accomplished professional with a more than 28-year leadership experience in both public and private sectors varying fr om mass media, banking, fast moving consumer goods to mining and metallurgy.

In her capacity of the CSO RUSAL which she assumed as of July 2021, Irina BAKHTINA has taken the accountability for development and implementation of the sustainable business strategy covering environment, climate regulation, labor and industrial safety, social investment, non-financial reporting and ESG-transformation projects as a whole.

Before RUSAL, Irina Bakhtina served as Deputy Prime Minister of the Komi Republic wh ere she was accountable for the review and implementation of social and economic development strategy, investment, industrial and environmental policies for the region. Before her public service term, she spent a total of 20 years leading the corporate affairs and sustainability functions of the international FMCG companies on a country and cluster levels — Philip Morris International (Russia and Belarus) and Unilever (North Africa, Middle East, Turkey, Iran, Israel, Russia, Ukraine and Belarus).

Chairs the Committee on Sustainable Development and ESG of the Russian Managers Association (2016-2020, Jan 2022 – present time), has been a member of the CSR and Demography Policy Committee of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP) (as of 2016), of the expert council on ESG under the auspices of the Analytical Center of the Russian Government (as of 2021), of the expert council under the Sub- Committee on Sustainable Development and Green Financing of the Committee on the Financial Markets of the State Duma (as of 2021), a Board member of the 'Find the Family' Foundation (as of 2017), an ESG coach for the Rusatom State Corporation's Academy (as of 2018), and a lecturer of the youth leadership pool of the T-Plus Group (as of 2018).

Her strategic vision and intellectual contribution were instrumental to have such socially meaningful platforms designed, established and aided as Digital, Low Carbon and Science-Based Economy of the Foreign Investors Advisory Council (FIAC) under the auspices of the Russian Prime Minister, Sustainable Business Lab at SKOLKOVO Moscow School of Management, ‘ Green Brands League ’ under the auspices of the Russian Quality System (Roskachestvo), Commission on Business Ethics of the Russian Managers Association.

Irina Bakhtina graduated from the Far-East State University majoring in Journalism (B.A. in International Journalism) (1992), completed a Strategic Management executive module in the INSEAD Business School (2016) and is working on her Doctoral Degree study (PhD) in Economics in the Graduate School of Management of the St. Petersburg State University (2019 – present time).
