United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues

On April 15-26, the 23rd session of the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues was held in New York.

Delegations from organizations of indigenous peoples of Yamal, Kamchatka, Yugra, Krasnoyarsk Territory, Yakutia, Karelia and Murmansk region took an active part in the session.

The delegates targeted the issues of modernization of traditional economic activities, involvement and support of young people from among small indigenous peoples, participation in decision-making through Councils of Representatives and other advisory bodies.

UNECE Resource Management Week 2024

From April 22 to 26, 2024, a Resource Management Week was held at the headquarters of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) in Geneva.

The Week's program focused on the theme "Ensuring sustainability in resource management", which combined thematic sessions, practical seminars and expert presentations on various aspects of sustainable use of natural resources. In total, over 120 delegates took part in the events of the Resource Management Week, including business representatives, diplomats, researchers and young people.

International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for peace

What is multilateralism?

Multilateralism is often defined in opposition to bilateralism and unilateralism. Strictly speaking, it indicates a form of cooperation between at least three States.Nevertheless, this "quantitative" definition is not sufficient to capture the nature of multilateralism. Indeed, it is not simply a practice or a question of the number of actors involved.

The 80th session of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP)

22 - 26 April, 2024, Bangkok, Thailand

The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) opened its 80th session in Bangkok today, on April 22th. The official program is available on the website.
This year's session is guided by the theme "Leveraging digital innovation for sustainable development in Asia and the Pacific". The program of the Session will also provide an overview of the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in the Asia-Pacific region.
