General meeting of members of the Association "National Network of the Global Compact"

On April 19, 2022, an extraordinary General Meeting of the members of the Association "National Network of the Global Compact" was held. Natalya Dorpeko (Kuplyakova), a new executive director of the Association, was elected by unanimous decision of the meeting participants.


Natalia Dorpeko has been a member of the Governing Board of the Association since September 2020 and since March 2022, by decision of the Governing Board, she has been a member of the Executive Directorate of the Association as Director for Strategy and Sustainable Development. As part of her work as a member of the Governing Council, N. Dorpeko participated in the formation of a new strategy for the Association, which was approved by the General Meeting of the Association members in December 2021. N. Dorpeko was recommended for the position of Executive Director by the Governing Board of the Association.

The General Meeting was held in the form of the joint presence of the members of the Association chaired by the Chairman of the Governing Council Alexander Plakida and co-chairman - Deputy Chairman of the Governing Council Elena Feoktistova at the site of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, which is one of the founders of the Association.

Alexander Plakida informed the members of the General Meeting about the current working contacts with the UN Global Compact Office and recommendations for the participants of the National Global Compact Network.

Elena Feoktistova drew attention to the growing consolidation of Russian business efforts in the field of sustainable development in the current international situation, the role of the Association «National Network of the Global Compact» in this process, as well as the significance of the updated Social Charter of Russian business / principles of responsible business conduct prepared by the RSPP at the end 2021.

Within the framework of the General Meeting, individual steps were discussed for the further development and plans for the activities of the Association.
In accordance with the agenda of the meeting, it was decided to appoint Irina Bakhtina, a representative of MKPAO United Company RUSAL, Director for Sustainable Development, to the Management Board. At the same time, RUSAL's contribution to the international and Russian sustainable development agenda was noted. The company became the first representative of Russian business in the UN Global Compact. Having joined the Global Compact in March 2002, over a 20-year period, RUSAL has become not only one of the pioneers in this major international initiative, it has always shared its experience with business partners and its environment, formed and successfully implemented new ESG initiatives, but and overcame a number of crisis stages in the global and Russian economy. And today, in difficult times, RUSAL responsibly follows the Principles of sustainable development in all areas and strives to maintain the supply chain based on them. Personal gratitude was expressed to Rustam Zakiev, Director of the Sustainable Development Department of RUSAL, for his 15-year contribution to the development of the Global Compact National Network and professional participation in the work of the Governing Board of the Association.

During the General Meeting, the opinions of the members of the Association on promising areas of work and the feasibility of creating target working groups and committees were heard.

It was decided to hold the next Extraordinary General Meeting no later than July 2022.
