United Nations Day, celebrated annually on 24 October, was proclaimed in October 1947 by a UN General Assembly resolution (No. 168) and coincides with the anniversary of the entry into force in 1945 of the UN Charter.
Over the decades, the UN has greatly contributed to the stability and security of the planet, economic and social development, protection of human rights and freedoms, and has become a unique platform for open dialogue on international issues. The UN has fulfilled its main mission - to preserve peace, promote sustainable development of peoples and continents, and help overcome local crises.
